Independent game studio / Android climbing

Choose the next hold

We design Android games about climbing. Each level is a wall, a ridge or a frozen gully, and the puzzle is the route. Which hold can you trust, where should you rest, and when do you commit to a move you cannot reverse?

Summit Studios is an independent game studio in Kent. Our interest is the quiet concentration of a climber who is reading rock rather than racing a clock.

We are building our first routes around a small set of hold types, each with a clear rule. Crimps hold briefly, jugs let you rest, slopers depend on your body position. A newcomer can learn them in a minute; reading how they combine on a long wall is where the depth is meant to come from. Progress is saved after every rest point, so a climb can be paused halfway up and finished later on the bus.

  1. 1000 m

    Base camp

Every route we sketch starts with a single rule a newcomer can grasp from the first screen: three points of contact keep you safe, two let you reach further.

  2. 1900 m

    The crux

Difficulty in our designs comes from a single hard section per route, the crux, rather than from a long chain of tests. Once it is solved, the rest of the climb is a reward.

  3. 2800 m

    Weather and light

Conditions change how a wall plays. Wet rock, low sun and wind give familiar routes a second life without adding new controls.

  4. 3700 m

    Summit

Reaching the top should feel earned and calm. We prefer a view and a moment of stillness to fireworks and score counters.
